SPIRAL FLUTE ADVANTAGEThe spiral flute improves the flow and removal of swarf which reduces the amount of heat generated at the cutting edge. This substantially increases the efficiency of the tool making it less prone to damage, with the added advantage of reducing annoying chatter . If you ve watched Orange County Choppers, Monster Garage or Myth Busters you will have seen the guys using step drills to quickly drill and debur the right size hole without having to change bits. They are made of high speed steel (HSS) with a tough TiN (Titanium Nitride) coating and the self starting tip means you don t need to drill a pilot hole. They can be used in a cordless drill, electric drill, drill press, milling machine or lathe. The bevel between steps allows you to debur and countersink. Each step has it s diameter in mm laser etched so you know what size hole you re drilling. The twin flute design allows fast cutting.
